AGYA KOO to uncover ‘fake prophets' as he launches latest album
A young, daring and enterprising man who came to Ghana’s capital Accra twenty (20) years ago in search of his long and cherished dream of being a high life musician, he gained his stardom in the movie industry when he was used a comedian in the run up to a drama series on Key Soap Concert Party at the country’s National theatre.
Although he originally arrived in Accra to sing, Kofi Adu aka Agya Koo has been featured in over 90 Ghanaian movies since his introduction to the Ghanaian film industry.
The man who was decorated with the honour of Star of the Volta by former President John Agyekum Kufuor has released a new album title ‘Atoro Adiyifuo’ which is intended to launch a campaign against fake prophets in society who continue to use the word of God to hoodwink the vulnerable.
He says his mission is to advise some of the ‘so-called’ prophets to desist from such acts since their actions would have serious repercussions on them and their families.
Appearing on the Rundown show for the first time on Wednesday night, indubitably the country’s famous actor chronicled reasons for his latest album which will be launched on Saturday August 28, 2010 at the Kumasi Prempeh Assembly.
‘What pertained in the past as far as the conduct of prophets are concerned is a sharp contrast of what we see today where some so-called prophet have devised different mechanisms to take monies from unsuspecting victims who genuinely wants to give their all to God’ Agya Koo told the king of entertainment talk in Ghana, Yaw Sakyi.
‘God says anyone who does not make the grade to heaven will suffer in the gate of hell and thrown into fire and so it amazes me how people are mocking the nobility of a sacred calling like prophecy to deceive people’
‘Today everybody is claiming to be prophet and the current trend is very worrying. Some of these prophets take monies from the vulnerable people in their churches and then use it on lavish things and sometimes go to the swimming pool to enjoy the sweat of people with their families and concubines.
Touching on his campaign of raising his voice against the recent excessive use of sex to sell movies and the increase of ‘soft porn’ in Ghanaian movie industry, he enjoyed all well-meaning people in society to join the call to fight the current canker.
Agya Koo, who also doubles as the most highly paid actor in Ghana now, said most Ghanaian movies released over the past months, have too many nude scenes which is against our culture as Ghanaians, so as an actor, he can’t just sit down and watch some producers destroy the industry that made him what he is today.
‘The level of nudity in the industry now is a worry to many people and that is why we must all rise up and fight the system. You don’t need to expose your breast and buttocks to tell viewers of a sex scene’. he said.
Agya Koo will fly out of the country to New York and Ohio in the United States after his launch in Kumasi on Saturday.
